Prospective international students/current students in Australia are in for some exciting times, as the government is planning to give them more time to work after they finish their studies as this will help Australia get more skilled workers.
Aside from this, international education will also benefit from the AU$36.1 million that the government will spend on visa processing over the next nine months to support 500 extra staff.
The summary of this development is as follows:
- Students can now work unlimited hours until June 2023. After June 2023, the hours of work will be revised.
- Increase in the number of years for post-study visa such as:
- 2-4 years for a bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years for a master’s degree
- 4-6 years for Ph.D.
